WHY WE FIGHT

We don’t fight our meaningful battles because we hate our opponents. We fight them because we despise our own fear and need to confront it. Our opponents, if they too have fought viciously, are then our allies, for they have fought the same battle, for the same reason.

SIZE MATTERS

The first question we have when we get a part is, how large is it? Then, if it’s large enough, we ask, how good is it? Then, if it’s good enough, we ask, is it better than all the other parts? Only after all of these ego driven queries do we get down to the serious business of figuring out how we can look really good in this part.

GETTING ON WITH IT

Part of an actor’s reaching creative maturity is learning to not repeat a joke or a gag that already got a laugh. It is the eternally needy child in every actor who wants to go back and do it again and get that laugh(love) again. So lovingly point this child in the direction of the story being told, and teach him that it’s OK to always leave them laughing, it’s what they paid for.
